There are heaps of great glute exercises that will help to build a strong and stable posterior chain (lower back, glute and hamstring muscles).

When choosing what’s best for you, you should consider what level you’re at, how strong and flexible you are currently and what equipment you have available.

I also recommend that you always leave room for progression. Meaning, don’t jump to the hardest movement first … You’ll get great, if not better gains choosing an easier movement because you’ll nail the technique quicker, plus, you have the added benefit that you’ve left the harder movements for later progression …

One of our favorites beginner to intermediate level exercises for the glutes is the FMS Fit Ball Hip Thrust. This movement requires minimal equipment, can be done almost anywhere with a fit ball. Plus, it can easily be progressively loaded using external weight, pause reps or slow eccentrics.

In this short 2:29 minute video Yani and Kaliesha demonstrate the easy to perform, beginner glute exercise, the FMS Fit Ball Hip Thrust.
